Birth:  June 10, 1940.  Plainfield, New Jersey.

 

Marital Status:  Married 42 years to Judith Berrien Munday, 3 children (all married); 10 grandchildren.

 

Education:

Cranford High School, Cranford, New Jersey, 1958, valedictorian.

B.A.  Physics, Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, June 10, 1962.

Ph.D. Biophysics (minors:  electrical engineering; physiology), University of Illinois, Urbana, Illinois, June 15, 1968.  “The Fluorescence Transient of Chlorella pyrenoidosa.”

 

Teaching Background:

Science and technology policy; science, faith and politics; policy analysis, statistics, war and peace, environmental protection, energy resources, geography, remote sensing, mathematics and algebra, physics. Classroom and via internet (Blackboard).

 

Research Background:  Resources and environment policy.  Science education policy.  Just war theory.  Bible-science issues.  Biomedical ethics. Remote sensing of water quality and coastal circulation, oil pollution, algal photosynthesis, missile spectroscopy, radar image analysis, resource monitoring and geo-base information systems, Landsat land cover mapping.

1975-1984.  Head, Remote Sensing Center:  Development, coordination, and expansion of remote sensing activities of the Institute to meet internal and external user needs:  All types of aerial photography, satellite data acquisition, imagery data reduction, mapping, and interactive computer processing.  In 1977, appointed by the Director as the VIMS contact for all matters concerning remote sensing.

 

1977-1978.  Spokesman for VIMS in Commonwealth of Virginia program planning for remote sensing and Virginia Resource Information System (including testimony before state agencies and legislative committees, and staff assistance for testimony and documents given U.S. Senate committee hearing on S657).

 

1980-1984.  Commonwealth of Virginia Data Base.  Assigned responsibility to supervise implementation and development of Landsat land cover mapping capability for the Commonwealth of Virginia.  Completed projects for regional planning districts.
